SaskOilseeds is a grower-led organization committed to advancing the success of Saskatchewan’s oilseed industry through research, knowledge transfer, and advocacy. SaskOilseeds collects a levy from registered Saskatchewan canola and flax growers to fund research and knowledge transfer initiatives, advocate for favorable policy at both provincial and national levels, and develop market opportunities domestically and internationally. The Opportunity
We are seeking an Agronomist – Grower Relations to strengthen our connections with farmers, agricultural retailers, independent agronomists, industry partners, and other external stakeholders. This role is responsible for facilitating the extension of research investment outcomes and agronomic resources developed by SaskOilseeds, ensuring timely dissemination of information and reinforcing our position as a trusted source of unbiased, evidence-based knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering High-Impact Agronomy Extension

  • Build and maintain relationships with levy payers, agricultural retailers, independent agronomists, and industry partners.

  • Represent SaskOilseeds at events, conferences, field days, and other industry functions.

  • Deliver presentations and share timely agronomic information and research results at producer and stakeholder meetings to support the growth of flax and canola in farmers rotations.

  • Represent SaskOilseeds on variety recommendation technical committees and support the delivery of unbiased, third-party variety information to stakeholders.

Media and public engagement

  • Respond to media inquiries on production issues and research results.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in public communications, providing accurate and relevant agronomic information.

  • Work with the Communications Manager, regional partners, and the Ministry of Agriculture to identify priorities for grower communications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Biology, or a related field, supported by significant agronomic knowledge.

  • Minimum of 3–4 years of relevant professional experience in agronomy, sales, communications, extension program delivery, or related roles.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse external stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience with public speaking and media engagement.

  • Proven ability to proactively engage growers on production issues, build rapport, and turn needs into practical support by connecting them with SaskOilseeds resources.

  • Ability to translate complex technical and scientific information into practical, user-friendly resources.

  • Proficiency with office productivity software, databases, and digital communication tools.
