Take part in Canola Counts!

Assessing canola plant stands in every field, every year, will help farmers and agronomists identify challenges and improve plant establishment practices. A great time to assess is at two- to four-leaf stage once plants are fully emerged.

The new Canola Counts tool helps growers assess and improve plant stands. The survey tool maps canola plant densities and emergence percentages while helping drive the adoption of regular plant counts as an important step in achieving target yields. Data from the survey will be used to inform research focusing on stand establishment to help farmers adopt better crop management practices.

The survey tool was developed by the Canola Council of Canada with funding provided by SaskCanola, Alberta Canola, and the Manitoba Canola Growers. It was built to help drive the adoption of plant establishment assessments while tracking progress towards canola industry production goals of 52 bu/acre by 2025 without adding more acres.

Canola Counts is mobile-friendly and it only takes about 60 seconds to input data. Each field entered at CanolaCounts.ca is a chance to win weekly gift cards Prizes will go to the users who enter the most fields in each Prairie province.
