SaskCanola Board Elects New Leadership

January 13, 2020 – Following the Annual General Meeting on January 12, SaskCanola’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Bernie McClean has been elected Chair.

McClean and his family operate a mixed farm near Glaslyn. He is currently Chair of the Canadian Canola Growers Association and is serving his second term on the SaskCanola Board.

“I am pleased to accept the Chair position for SaskCanola,” McClean stated. “I want to sincerely thank our outgoing Chair, Wayne Truman, for his leadership over the last year and for serving a total of eight years on the board. It is through the dedication of farmers like Wayne that we are able to fund cutting edge research projects supporting the advancement of the canola industry in this province.”

Truman commented, “It has been an honour to serve on the SaskCanola Board and represent canola farmers of Saskatchewan. I have worked closely with Bernie over the years and look forward to his leadership.”

Other newly elected leadership positions include Lane Stockbrugger of Englefeld as Vice Chair and Charlene Bradley of Stranraer as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee.

SaskCanola is a producer led organization, established in 1991 and supported by some 20,000 levy-paying Saskatchewan canola growers. SaskCanola’s mandate is to grow producer prosperity through research, advocacy, and market development.
