Preserving Canola Exports

SaskCanola encourages producers who have questions about products or varieties to contact their grain buyer for more information.

Canada exports 90% of canola and its products. Shipments containing even the smallest amount of unacceptable residues or de-registered varieties can be rejected, costing millions of dollars to the industry and jeopardizing market access. Registered crop protection products does not guarantee that it is acceptable to export customers. Registration of new products in Canada can occur before a maximum residue limit (MRL) is determined in key export markets, increasing trade risk.
