SaskCanola Kicks off Saskatchewan Day at 2010 Vancouver Games
Vancouver... The Saskatchewan canola industry is being celebrated at the Saskatchewan Pavilion in Vancouver today. As part of the industry's heart-healthy promotion of canola oil, SaskCanola sponsored and hosted the Kickoff to Saskatchewan Day Breakfast setting the stage for Saskatchewan Day activities at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games.

Canola Industry Receives Valuable Market Access Program

January 13, 2010 at the Saskatoon Inn. There will be a $10 registration

Two SaskCanola Board positions will be open for nominations beginning
October 1, 2009. Kelvin Meadows, Chair of the Board will be completing
his final term with the Commission effective January 13, 2010
and Tim Wiens will have reached the end of his second term.

Test
Results Confirm Trace Levels of the Clubroot Pathogen
SaskCanola Research Manager, Pat Flaten, today confirmed that
the retesting of a soil sample from a randomly-selected field
in west-central Saskatchewan, using a DNA diagnostic test and
a canola plant bioassay, has confirmed trace levels of the clubroot
pathogen (Plasmodiophora brassicae).

Elevance Renewable Sciences, Inc. announced today that it has
been awarded a $250,000 (Canadian) grant by the Saskatchewan Canola

canola from April when snow is still on the field right through

2007-2008 Annual Report
2007-2008 was an exhilarating year for canola. Canola producers
harvested almost 4 million tonnes with an average yield of 24.6
bushels per acre. 80 percent of the crop was above the 10 year

plant to be built in Yorkton, construction to begin in 2010
A major canola processing plant will be built in Yorkton, James
Richardson International Ltd. announced Friday. Construction of
the plant, which will cost in excess of $100 million, will begin
immediately. The plant is expected to go into production in 2010.

of Commons Passes Milestone Biofuels Bill
In a milestone decision today, the House of Commons overwhelmingly
passed a bill that will implement a national Renewable Fuel Standard,
requiring ethanol and biodiesel blended transportation fuels in
Canada. It is the first legislation of its kind in Canada.
