Although not yet widespread, clubroot symptoms have been found on roots in two rural municipalities in Saskatchewan. This is not to say that it is isolated to these two locations. Perhaps we just haven't been looking hard enough. In fact, looking for symptoms is a valuable step to containing and managing clubroot. We are fortunate that varietal developments have made clubroot tolerance available to us, it is not 100% and the tolerance will erode, just as it is with blackleg. The best way to fight it will be to slow its spread. Two of the best tools are to clean field equipment and break disease cycles with other crops. For more information, participate in this SaskCanola webinar. CCA and SIA continuing education credit is available.
