SaskCanola holding four Webinars on Wet Acres in March. Register now

Register online for the four web seminars (also called webinars) that SaskCanola is putting on in March, 2011. Each of the webinars deals with a different issue related to unseeded and flooded acres.

 

SaskCanola: Fertility Issues with Unseeded and Flooded Acres
Tuesday, March 1, 2011 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM CST

Due to the flooding and wet conditions in 2010, significant areas of Saskatchewan were not seeded, were drowned out, or had significant weed growth. There are many questions that producers have about nutrient status for 2011. Dr. Jeff Schoenau, soil fertility scientist with the University of Saskatchewan, will discuss the possible scenarios due to these conditions and provide advice as to how to proceed in preparation for the 2011 crop season.

SaskCanola: Field Management Issues with Unseeded and Flooded Acres

Due to the flooding and wet conditions in 2010, significant areas of Saskatchewan were not seeded, were drowned out, or had significant weed growth. There are many questions that producers have about managing these fields in 2011. Lyle Cowell, Manager Agronomic Services, Viterra, at Tisdale, Saskatchewan will provide information focussed on aspects relating to physically dealing with saturated soils, rutted soils and possible compacted soils.

SaskCanola: Disease Issues with Unseeded and Flooded Acres

Due to the flooding and wet conditions in 2010, significant areas of Saskatchewan were not seeded, were drowned out, or had significant weed growth. What is the impact of volunteer canola or related species on canola in 2011? More acres are predicted to be seeded to canola this year than ever before in the province. Faye Dokken-Bouchard, Provincial Crop Disease Specialist with Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, will provide information which will shed light and be helpful in managing canola in this situation.

SaskCanola: Weed Issues on Unseeded and Flooded Acres
