Cash Advance Extension for Farmers with Flooded Bin Sites

Farmers who are unable to deliver stored grain and repay their 2009 cash advance with the CCGA because of excess moisture around their bin sites welcome today’s announcement from Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, to extend the repayment deadline to January 31, 2011.

"Many farmers from across the Prairies have told us their bin sites are surrounded by water and it’s been that way for months," says Rick White, General Manager of the CCGA. "For these farmers who have the grain in storage, a four-month extension means they will be able to pay off their advance after freeze up and avoid going into default."

The CCGA acknowledges Minister Ritz’s speedy response to the association’s request for a repayment extension for affected producers. Farmers who currently have a 2009 Advance Payments Program cash advance with the CCGA and are experiencing yard site flooding should contact the CCGA immediately at 1-866-745-2256 to ensure their 2009 advance remains in good standing.
