fund to support research, market development, and communication
activities.

Research
Objective #1
Improve producers' net returns by increasing price and/or yield
and providing recommendations for cost-effective use of inputs.
Some areas of focus include:
- Agronomic Research
- Agronomic and production research projects
in the areas of insects, diseases, Juncea, fertility and plant
stand
- Plant Breeding
- Priorities include sclerotinia and other
insect and disease resistance, shattering tolerance and nutrient
utilization
- Another priority is to look at seed costs
for conventional versus hybrid canola
Objective #2
Develop new products and uses from canola oil and meal for the
food and non-food markets. Some areas of focus include:
- Biodiesel and additives
- Aquafeeds
- Meal for human consumption
- Yellow seeded canola
- Bioplastics

Market Development
Objective
Increase the demand, price and quality of canola and canola products.
Some areas of focus include:
- Maintain and increase food markets for canola
oil in the US and Canada
- Markets in China and Mexico
- Canola Info (a canola oil promotion program,
visit www.canolainfo.org)
- Market maintenance programs focused on Saskatchewan
- Foreign markets in Japan, Mexico, Iran and
China
- Biodiesel promotion
- Whole canola seed for livestock
