Election for SaskCanola Board Positions
Two SaskCanola Board positions will be open
for nominations beginning October 1, 2009. Kelvin Meadows, Chair
of the Board will be completing his final term with the Commission
effective January 13, 2010 and Tim Wiens will have reached the
end of his second term.
Only registered canola producers may nominate,
vote, and/or be elected to the SaskCanola Board. Registered producers,
who wish to be elected to the Board of Directors, should contact
SaskCanola via email: info@saskcanola.com
or toll free at 1-877-241-7044 for a Director Nomination Package.
Nomination forms must be returned to the Returning Officer no
later than 12:00 PM, noon, October 30, 2009.
Elections will subsequently take place by a
mail in ballot. Registered producers will be sent a ballot to
select their Board choices from the nominated registered growers.
Ballots are then to be submitted to the Returning Officer by December
11, 2009. The election results will be announced on January 13th,
2010 at SaskCanola's Annual General Meeting during the 2010
Crop Production Week.

November 19, 2009: Ballots mailed to each registered producer
December 11, 2009: Ballots must be received by Returning
Officer
January 13, 2010: SaskCanola Annual General Meeting-Saskatoon
*Note: A registered grower is defined as
any grower who has sold canola in years 2007 and 2008 and who
has not requested a refund. Only registered growers may vote,
nominate directors and/or be elected to the Board of Directors.
Board Profile
SaskCanola is dedicated to profitability for canola growers. The
Board along with staff is responsible for the allocation of canola
levy funds for agronomy research, to better crop production and
returns, market development and communications programs, to increase
demand and use of canola oil and to build industry and public/consumer
awareness.
SaskCanola directors attend six board meetings
a year, participate on Board committees, and attend industry and
grower meetings to ensure canola grower's interests are
heard. The directors commit approximately 40 days per year of
their time to the organization. Directors are elected for three-year
term and are eligible to be re-elected for two more three year
terms.
